This is what was happening the last time: In other words, if an Album Rating is 3 stars, the song's Album Rating will be 3 stars (although it is in fact wrong!), but the song rating should stay as not-starred. So the first thing you need to identify is: is the Album Rating then being allocted to the individual Song Rating as well? Make sure you undertsand this point: the Album Rating should not cause the Song Rating to change. But when I tried to get this addressed last time, I was beaten down by people who "couldn't see the wood for the trees". While in theory, it makes sense to use song ratings to create an Album Rating - Apple's implimentation of it is wrong. I also don't use the Album Rating ('cos it's rubbish!), so to be honest, I cannot recall whether Apple ever stopped a one-song rating from allocating the Album Rating. In other words, steps 1 & 2 above are still occurring, but step 3 is not (thankfully). This is also nonsense!īut - I've just checked this out and discovered that the current situation is: rating one song causes the Album Rating to be allocated (but wrongly!) Luckily, this is not then giving the other songs on that album an individual rating (as it did before). that, in turn, would cause every other song on the album to be given the same Song Rating as the whole album (even though only one song had been rated).that would cause the album rating to be assigned, to every song, with the same number of stars as the individual song (which is nonsense and incorrect). However, the last time this came up (and my Smart Playlists were affected by this nonsense), the precise effect was: As you point out, there's a bit of a history about Album Ratings.
